Where the Andes Breathe
Discover the sacred power of Cascada de Peguche, Otavalo’s most spiritual natural wonder.
The Spirit of the Water
The roar echoes through the Eucalyptus forest long before the water comes into view. This is a Huaca—a sacred point where the energy of the earth converges.
Located at 2,554 meters, the site is managed by the Faccha Llacta Community, serving as both an ecological sanctuary and a ceremonial center.
During festivals, this water is used for rituals where fresh petals bless the community. It’s the heart of Andean spirituality in Imbabura.

The Legend of the Paila de Oro
“Inside the falls sits the Devil with a Golden Cauldron, guarded by black dogs…”
A high price is paid by those who seek the gold: return it before the sand runs out, or lose your soul.
